Calling all Keenos
I've been speaking to Winks and we think it would be a good idea to start netting at the end of this month, it will be a good chance to get together early doors, establish who is going to play and also get a head start on the other teams.
It will be a good opportunity to start the season professionally and a good way to be positive and kick on from last season to hopefully get into the top 4 of the league which is where we are more than capable of being.
Quote J. Whincup (2010) "As a collective we under achieved massively last season, if we want to be taken seriously by the other clubs in the league we need to start earlier and prepare better"
Also I am considering going for captain so if someone could nominate me that would be greatly appreciated.
Another also, I am organising more shirts for anyone who wants one, I have had plenty of interest and orders are already placed so if I have missed anyone I apologise. If anyone who got a shirt last year and wants another one with different sleeves let me know.
Jack

Thank you JT and Winks for prompting me to make this announcement.
Alot has been said about last year after such a fantastic first year which culminated in two semi-finals and a top 6 finish. Unfortunately in the next season a number of players talked up the team without actually concentrating on their own game. Worrying about the opposition when there was a need to just concentrate on their own job.
The weather decimated nets weekly so it was up to these players to deliver on saturdays and i am afraid one look at the league and club averages suggest only a few players delivered. So to me it wasnt about under achievement or collective under achievement as 3-4 players did the business, unfortunately players again were happy to accept a mid table position and that attitude wears you down after a while. It has to hurt when you lose and you have to be disappointed when as a player you dont hit your targets and i hope next season this improves under a new captaincy.
I am formally announcing my retirement from Heysham C.C to take on other interests in my life but i wish the club every success.
I will pass on the application forms to Richard who can sign the forms and agree dates for nets at Heysham High.
Can i thank everyone at the club for their support over the last few seasons and i hope the second team/first team and committee can work together to make Heysham a force to be reckoned with in the future. In particular i would like to thank Richard Townsend for his support when i joined Heysham but the time is right for me to move on - at lease it gives someone new a chance to take the catches title as it was getting a little boring !! Good Luck to everyone at Heysham C.C
Jack/James Richard is

Richard is already on the case for nets sessions this please approach richard on this matter
You dont have to be a pilot to fly in the RAF
Ken Chilton
I would also like to thank Ken Chilton who was brilliant last season. I know he enjoys doing the stats and hopefully the new captain will continue to take the book to him weekly as he does a great job with speed and efficiency. Ken really supports everyone at Heysham C.C and would support the club even more if he was able to. Ken i know you read the website alot so can i personally thank you for your hard work.
Gareth As you know I'm
Gareth
As you know I'm disappointed you have decided to stand down as captain and even more disappointed you have decided to retire. Your absence will have a big effect on our middle order where your were really starting to dominate. Whilst I respect your decision I do hope you reconsider, you'll be retired for an awfully long time. You'll only be going shopping anyway.
Jack
We normally start nets in the middle of February until early April (or until we can get outside) no reason why we cant start a couple of weeks if there is sufficient support.
With regards to the shirts, dont order anything yet. At this stage we dont know who will be playing in which team and we dont want to be in the same situation we were in last year. The Committee are currently looking at a more coordinated approach to club shirts, we'd rather have a single club shirt as opposed to the current situation. Currently there are no funds available to buy anything, there needs to be sponsorship available and in place before anything is ordered. I think Dave Dixon will be leading this. As a matter of interest, how were you hoping to pay for the shirts you've ordered ???
Richard
The futures here !!
thats ok I think there will
thats ok I think there will be interest, a few of the lads I've spoken to seem keen to start it earlier than usual.
Yeah Kyle told me about that yesterday, the lads have said they'll pay for them themselves, so the club wouldn't be forking out any more money, all the young lads are more than prepared to pay for their own shirts cos they have seen like everyone else how good they are and how good they look. And as I said above I have a LOT of interest, I think I have 20 people wanting a shirt and some one of the jumpers as well
Jack As I said, dont order
Jack
As I said, dont order anything until we agree the best way forward. Also its not really fair for people to pay for them when others haven't, hopefully we can get the sponsorship we need to cover the costs. I will speak with Dave D.
Gareth
Can you bring the forms round when you get them and I'll sign them off. This might be a long shot, if you cant commit the time to play at the weekend what about coming onto the committee (even on an informal basis). Your skills would be really useful as we're trying to apply for grants etc for a new all weather and kit etc. We also need to establish and grow links to the local schools. What do you think?
The futures here !!
No don't worry I'm not
No don't worry I'm not ordering them till I know whats going on, I appreciate it hasn't worked out fairly, but if the lads are willing to pay so that everyone has the shirts that the first team got last season surely that solves the problem, but like I said I'm not going to do anything about it until I know whats going on.
NETS
Forms for nets are at Richards now and at the moment tuesdays/wednesdays are good except the first week in March which is unavailable due to exams. The time available is 8-9pm as per last year.
Rich - In terms of the committee i have not got any real plans to get involved. I am now an active member of the Cricket Development Group (CDG)and due to my involvement with the District schools and the post of the Cricket Development Officer which i have helped to fund it is important that i attend those meetings. Unfortunately at the last meeting at Trimpell there was no representative from Heysham CC and no one attended the meeting before that either?? but if you need any specific support just email me and let me know?
You can start nets as and when providing the application form is sent in with all the dates confirmed as soon as.
Gareth
Gareth Worth a try!! Is
Gareth
Worth a try!!
Is there any way you can double up on the CDG and represent HCC. Unfortunately its either DC, Barrie or myself having to attend and its not always possible.
I'll bring the nets form round tomorrow, Wednesdays are as good a time as any so we'll take from 17th Feb through to 7th April (minus 3rd March). If anyone wants extra they can book individually.
Will take you up on your offer of help. We need to get grant applications in to replace the all weather. Its not really fit for purpose and needs replacing. If you have any contact details or info can you let me/Barrie know.
Might see you tomorrow
thanks

Sorry to revert back to the
Sorry to revert back to the top of this post, but would just like to say thanks to Gareth for his help and contribution over his short time at the club. I think he's witnessed how hard it is to captain a side which is used to finishing mid table/bottom half. The winning mentality seems to soley apply to this message board and not on the cricket pitch. I think gaz hit the nail on the head, too many people made excuses, didn't focus on the real problems and didn't try to learn game to game. But thats embedded in the team, and is some thing we need to grow out of. Playing in a succesful team at school (which seems an age ago) when nothing but a win is tolerated, is a stark contrast to the first team attitude. In my opinion players 'think' they have the right attitude but really when it all boils down to it its easier said than done, and we are just treading water. We concentrated on the opposition and made excuses rather looking at our own game. "they are a better side", "we got beat by one man", "The umpire gave 7 lbws", "the pitch was awful". Ring any bells?!?!? I think that was pretty much the talk of the changing room week in week out after the game, so where do you go? how do you improve? Eventually it just gets demoralising.
Anyway (steps down from soap box!) well done Gareth and hope you enjoy your saturday leisure time
p.s. watching the shrimps can be more frustrating than playing for HCC.
You don't have to be a nuclear physicist to work on a nuclear power station
Joe
Joe - Thanks for your comments i really appreciate them. It has worn me down and i had to bite my lip so many times last season!! I felt now i have finished i could make those comments which are spot on like you agreed.
I also agree with your comment about the Shrimps - I am really looking forward to watching the shrimps more and want to get to some away games(not missed a home game this yr) but they are as frustrating as HCC players lol.
Good Luck for the future to you and the players/committee at HCC.
nice to see so many people
nice to see so many people so keen this early in the season. Is the rumour true that TOM JAQUES is coming or has been approached to play at HEYSHAM this year???????
C-Sgt I believe not only
C-Sgt I believe not only asked to play but also asked to step into the breach of Captain. Obviously no one at Heysham wants the job of following Gareth.!
I believe whilst I was at
I believe whilst I was at the line dancing there was a game to be had. I failed to hear the result of the game, also heard the was a Westmoreland feel to the teams?
